Default Downloading Guild Wars using -image

So i am thinking of redownloading Guildwars again on my laptop. Now the problem i usually had on my other computers is that i had to always load files after i had finished doing the three main continents. That load time got me flamed by my guild members for loading in late for gvgs/ha/ra/ab. I apparently did 3 ab matches dling and now my bud doesn't ever want to ab with me again. So i heard there is a trick to using -image in the Guild Wars command line, or something like that, which will load every Guild Wars file known overnight. Can anyone explain to me how to use it?

It downloads all updates and maps in Guild Wars. It's very nice to do this because you don't have to download any maps anymore and cuts out most loading.

Follow these steps:

1. Right click on your GW shortcut
2. Hit Properties
3. Go to the command line(Example: C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe) and add a space and add -image(Example: C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe -image)
4. Click OK

Now start Guild Wars. It will say its downloading XX,XXX ammount of files. Just let it set overnight.

If you already have GW downloaded on another machine, you can copy the gw.dat file found in your GW directory and just save it to the GW directory on your laptop. That saves a lot of download time for running GW on another machine.

So do the -image as explained above, and then keep a copy of that gw.dat file on a portable drive/dvd (it will be around 4GB) and then you can easily copy it to any machine you like.

Another suggestion is to make a copy of your shortcut, and call it "update" or something. You can make that shortcut with the -image tag, and every so often, if you notice that you are going places that are loading (changes, new maps, etc), you can click it on on of your machines to do an update. Probably before bed or work or something. Than you have all the latest data, and can copy the .dat to your other machines

Leet's instructions are pretty good. Just one more thing to add.

Boneyard's idea is a good idea because doing the -image will cause the GW updater to come up (that grey box with the download bar that comes up before the game actually starts) but it won't cause the game to actually begin when it is finished. To actually play the game again, you have to remove the -image from the shortcut. So having 2 copies, one that's an update and one that is the game is the easiest way to do this.

Alright thanks guys for all your help. I did the -image thing and it only took me about 15 minutes to load everything.
